Box Score TULSA, Okla. ? The UALR baseball team (9-24) built a 6-1 lead after three innings on Tuesday night, but Oral Roberts (17-9) scored in each of the next five frames to pull out a 10-8 victory at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
Trailing 6-1 after three innings, the Golden Eagles tacked on two runs in the fourth and fifth innings, and added three more in the sixth to take the lead for good. UALR pushed across a run in the eighth to make it a one-run game, 9-8, but ORU added an insurance run in the bottom half and T.J. Kelly retired the Trojans in order in the ninth to pick up his third save of the year.
Kelly worked the final 2.0 innings for ORU, holding the Trojans to two hits and an unearned run while racking up three strikeouts. Andre Lamontagne (2-2) got the win in relief for the Golden Eagles, as starter Drew Bowen lasted just 2.0 innings after allowing three hits, three walks and five runs to the Trojans.
Johnny Roberts led the Golden Eagles with a 3-for-5 day at the plate, scoring two runs and hitting a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth (his third of the year). Colby Price added a 3-for-4 effort with one run scored and two RBI in the win.
Juniors Nate Brown and Anthony Gower paced the Trojans with two hits a piece, while Brown matched junior Landis Wilson for the team lead with two RBI. Junior Alex Smith took the loss in relief of starter Sean Potter after allowing four hits and five runs (four earned) over 1.1 innings of work.
UALR returns to action this weekend (April 17-19) when it welcomes Troy to Gary Hogan Field for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series.
