Photo Album vs Tulsa
TULSA, Okla.—The
UALR volleyball team split matches at the final day of the ORU Classic
defeating Northwestern State 3-1 (22-25, 25-13, 25-19, 25-20) and losing to
Tulsa 3-0 (18-25, 21-25, 19-25) Saturday. The Trojans finish the weekend
4-2 overall.
In
the first match against Northwestern State, Becky Mann and Anita
Bucur each led the team with 11 kills apiece. Giuliana De
Francesco recorded her second straight double-double of the weekend with a
team high of 32 assists and 12 digs.
Emily
Pepperman led
the team with 15 digs, while Daniele Moura Souza contributed 12 digs.
UALR
lost the first set 22-25 after recording eight kills with four errors for their
lowest hitting percentage of the match at .143.
The
score tied seven times, before a four-point run by UALR gave the Trojans a
14-11 lead. The Lady Demons pushed points and tied the score at 21 on a
kill.
UALR
tied the score at 22 on a NSU attack error, before the Lady Demons scored three
straight points to win.
The
Trojans combined for 36 kills over the next three games to come back from the
first set loss to take the match.
In
set two, the Trojans held the Lady Demons to just 13 points after the score
tied four times in the only series. UALR scored as many as six
consecutive points and won the set on two NSU service errors.
UALR
controlled the third set after five times in the opening points holding the
Lady Demons to 19 points and recording the team's highest attack percentage of
the match at .289. Kills by Mann and Paige Gantar sealed the third
set win.
In
set four, the Lady Demons opened on a 3-0 run, before a service error by NSU
put the first points on the board for UALR.
The
score tied four times with UALR taking the advantage on an NSU attack
error. The Trojans held on to the lead scoring the final four points of
the match including kills by Bucur and Katharina Nobel to win the set
and match.
In
the loss to Tulsa, Bucur led the team with 11 kills, while Pepperman led the
team with 12 digs.
The
Trojans recorded 35 kills for the match and recorded a .194 attack percentage,
while the Golden Hurricane recorded 52 kills and recorded a .312 attack
percentage.
Tulsa
opened the first set on a 3-0 run, before a kill by Jennifer Elbert put
the first point on the board for UALR.
The
Trojans tied the score and took the lead, before Tulsa took control and sustain
it. UALR scored 18 points in the set.
In
set two, the score tied twice, before a kill by Nobel gave UALR the 5-4
lead. The Golden Hurricane tied the score at nine and ten to regain the
advantage.
Tulsa
kept the lead and won the set on two kills by Hannah Stout.
Two
kills by Mann started the third set for the Trojans. The Golden Hurricane
pushed points and tied the score at nine before scoring five consecutive points.
Tulsa
held UALR to 19 points winning the set and the match on a kill.
UALR
continues volleyball action next weekend at the UTA Invitational.
