Ala.—The
UALR volleyball team lost 3-0 (24-26, 23-25, 13-25) to Troy Saturday in Sun
Belt Conference action. The Trojans lost
the team's first match to Troy and fall to 2-12 overall and 0-4 in conference
matches.
Paige
Gantar led UALR in kills with 11, while Emily Pepperman recorded a team high of 14 digs. Kristi
Block also recorded double-digit digs with 13.
The Trojans recorded the team's
highest attack percentage in set one knocking down 16 kills on 49 attempts with
four errors for a .245 percentage.
UALR opened on a 2-0 run
on Troy errors, before a service error by the Trojans gave Troy the team's
first point.
UALR maintained the lead
until after the Trojans tied the score at 12 on a kill by Gantar when Troy
knocked down four-straight points all on kills.
The Trojans pushed points
tying the score at 24, before Troy scored the final two points on a UALR attack
error and a kill.
A kill by Gantar opened
the second set, before a UALR service error tied the score. The Trojans took the lead on a Troy error,
before Troy tied the score twice and regain the advantage on a UALR ball
handling error.
Troy sustained the lead
through the set with UALR coming within one point, but Troy held on for the
25-23 set win.
In set three, Troy jumped
to the 2-0 lead before committing an attack error. UALR pushed points tying the score three
times and taking the lead on a kill by Gantar.
The scored tied twice,
before Troy recorded 11 straight points for the 23-12 lead. UALR scored on a Troy error, but Troy won the
set and the match.
UALR continues Sun Belt
Conference action next Friday as the Trojans travel to Denver. Match is set for 8 p.m.
