being down a set, the UALR volleyball team won three in a row to defeat ULM 3-1
(21-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-20) Sunday. The
Trojans improve to 4-17 overall and 2-9 in Sun Belt Conference action.
Kristi
Block led the Trojans in kills with a season-high of 15 and
in blocks with four total including a team-high two block solos. Eva
Xie recorded 13 kills, while Paige
Gantar recorded 11.
Emily
Pepperman led the team in digs with 18, while Daniele Souza Moura and Ty Lindberg each recorded 16 digs.
Jennifer
Elbert recorded a career and team-high of 50 assists.
ULM (0-20, 0-11 SBC)
jumped to a 3-0 lead in set one, before a kill by Gantar put the Trojans on the
board and sparked a run to tie the score.
The score tied at four,
before the Warhawks scored as many as four-straight points to take the lead and
sustain it throughout most of the set.
The Trojans pushed points
tying the set at 16 on an ULM error. The
score tied three more times, before a kill by ULM sparked a 3-0 run.
ULM held UALR to 21 points
and won on a kill.
Over the next three sets,
the Trojans recorded over .300 in attack percentage including the team's
highest of .312 in set three.
Both teams exchanged
points to start the second set with the score tying seven times.
With the score tied at
ten, a kill by Souza Moura sparked a 4-0 run by UALR including kills by Rinata Aisena and Block.
The Trojans held the
Warhawks to 20 points and won on a kill by Block.
Set three started with
both teams recording a kill, until a kill by Block followed by three ULM attack
errors gave the Trojans the 5-1 advantage.
The Warhawks never
recovered scoring 18 points, while UALR won the set on a kill by Eva Xie.
UALR jumped to a 2-0 lead
in set three on a kill by Block and a Warhawk attack error. ULM pushed points tying the score at eight on
a Trojan attack error.
The score tied five more
times. With the score 17 all, the
Trojans scored two-straight points on kills by Gantar and Eva Xie. ULM pushed points tying the score at 20 on a
UALR attack error.
A ULM service error
sparked a 5-0 run by the Trojans that including two kills by Block and a
service ace by Souza Moura to win the set and match.
UALR starts five-straight
home match on Friday as the Trojans host North Texas. Match is set for 7 p.m.
