ROCK, Ark.—The UALR volleyball ended the 2010 season Saturday with
a 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-17) sweep of ULM at the Jack Stephens Center. The Trojans honored senior Jennifer Elbert and ended the season
7-19 overall and 5-11 in Sun Belt Conference action.
“We had a long hard
season, but I would live like to attribute character to this team,” said head
coach Van Compton. “We won the last five out of eight
matches. They never quit believing they
could win.”
Elbert lead the team in
assists with 33 and also contributed eight digs, while Rinata Aisena led the team in kills with 12. Paige
Gantar contributed ten kills in the win.
Emily
Pepperman led the team in digs with 20, while Gina Guo recorded 11 digs.
UALR opened the first set
4-0 including kills by Aisena, Daniele Souza
Moura, and Elbert. ULM scored the
team's first point on a Trojan attack error.
The Trojans maintained the
advantage, but the Warhawks (0-25, 0-16 SBC) pushed points scoring as many as
four in a row including three at set point for UALR.
With the score 24-22, a
ULM attack error gave the Trojans the 25-22 set win.
UALR recorded the team's
highest attack percentage in set two recording 14 kills on 31 attempts and only
four errors for a .323 percentage.
The Trojans opened on a
6-0 run including a service ace by Souza Moura, before a kill gave ULM the team's
first point.
UALR held the Warhawks to
19 points and scored the last two on kills by Elbert and Gantar to win the set.
Set three opened with a
4-0 run by the Trojans, before a UALR service error gave ULM the team's first
point.
With the score 20-17 in
UALR's favor, the Trojans rattled off five-straight points including kills by
Souza Moura, Kristi Block, and
Aisena to win the set and match.
