COLLEGE
STATION, Texas—The UALR women's basketball team suffered
the team's first loss of the season losing 87-41 at No. 8 Texas A&M
Tuesday.  The Trojans shot 34.9 percent
from the field compared to the Aggies 50.7 percent.
“I
thought A&M played a great basketball game,” said head coach Joe Foley.  “That kind of quickness and pressure in the
inside makes a good ball team.  We don't
see that kind of quickness in our conference.
We were fortunate to play A&M tonight, and this can help us in the
future.  We are missing two good guards
that we had when we beat Georgia Tech.  A
game like this will show you what you got to work on.”
Chastity
Reed led
the Trojans in points with 17 points, while Asriel Rolfe and Taylor Ford
each contributed five points.
Ford and Marian Kursh led the team in rebounds
with four a piece.
Danielle
Adams led all scorers with 24 points, including 20 in the first half, and
recorded a double-double with ten rebounds.
After
UALR won the tip, Reed knocked down the Trojans first points on a jumper,
before Texas A&M scored eight unanswered points including a three-point
play by Danielle Adams.
The
next Trojan point game from a free throw by Britteni Williams at the 17:05 mark.  The Aggies scored six points to bring their
advantage to 16-3, before a three-pointer by Ford cut the advantage to ten with
13:33 until the half.
Both
teams exchanged points, before Adams scored seven-straight points to extend the
Texas A&M lead to 25-8 with 10:49 on the clock.  After Reed knocked down four points and Karla
Gilbert knocked down three for the Aggies, a three-pointer by Rolfe brought the
score to 28-14.
Texas
A&M scored six-straight points, before a jumper by Reed ended the drought
after four and a half minutes at the 3:06 mark.
In
the remaining 2:43, the Aggies scored six points, including four from Adams, to
UALR's three to go into the half-time with a 40-19 lead.
TAMU
opened the second half with a jumper, but UALR answered back with a layup by Hannah Fohne from Reed.  Over the next three minutes, both teams exchanged
points with the Aggies outscoring the Trojans ten to four.
Texas
A&M held the Trojans to no field goals and only one free throw over the
next seven minutes until the 7:08 mark when Fohne scored on a layup from Rolfe
to bring the score to 69-28 in TAMU's favor.
In
the remaining 6:51, the Aggies outscored the Trojans 18 to 13 to win 87-41.
UALR

Center.
