Kan.—The
UALR volleyball team ended the Kansas Invitational losing 3-0 (25-19, 25-13,
25-19) to the host school Saturday.
Sophomore Emily Pepperman earned
All-Tournament Team honors as the Trojans drop to 2-8 overall.
Paige
Gantar led the team in kills with nine, while Jennifer Elbert recorded a
double-double with a team-high of 18 assists and 12 digs. Pepperman led the team in digs with 13.
For the match, the Trojans
did not record above a .100 attack percentage and recorded 25 attack errors and
six service errors.
In the first set, UALR
jumped to a 4-0 lead including kills by Gantar and Daniele Souza Moura. After
Kansas scored the team's first point, the Trojans recorded two more points on
kills by Gantar and Elbert.
UALR maintained the
advantage until the Jayhawks tied the score at ten, 11, and 12 and took the
lead on two Trojan attack errors.
Kansas scored as many as
five-straight points and held UALR to 19 as the Jayhawks won the set 25-19.
UALR again jumped to a 2-0
lead on a kill by Eva Xie and a
Kansas error to begin the second set.
Kansas tied the score at two, but the Trojans quickly regain the
advantage on kills by Eva Xie and Souza Moura.
The score tied three
times, before a kill and UALR attack error gave Kansas the lead. The Jayhawks scored seven-straight points and
held the Trojans to 13 winning the set on a UALR service error.
An attack error by KU gave
the Trojans the 1-0 lead to start set three.
Kansas tied the score and took the lead on two kills by Tayler Tolefree.
UALR pushed points tying
the score four times before taking the lead 11-9 on two Kansas attack errors.
Both teams exchanged points,
before a kill by Eva Xie tied the score at 15.
Kansas then recorded three-straight points to regain the advantage and
sustain it. UALR scored 19 points, as
the Jayhawks won on a UALR attack error.

action on Friday, September 24 as the Trojans host Middle Tennessee. Match is set for 7 p.m. at the Jack Stephens
Center.
