ROCK, Ark.—The UALR volleyball team dropped the team's
second-straight conference match Saturday against Western Kentucky 3-0 (25-19,
25-17, 25-12) at the Jack Stephens Center.
The Trojans fall to 2-10 overall and 0-2 in conference action.
Paige
Gantar and Ty Lindberg led
the team in kills with six, while Kristi
Block led the team in digs with 11. Jennifer Elbert recorded a
double-double with a team high of 17 assists and ten digs.
Block recorded a
career-high of four block solos and total blocks with seven.
UALR started the first set
on a 2-0 run with a kill by Lindberg and a WKU error. After the Lady Toppers scored the team's
first point, the Trojans gained a 3-1 advantage with a kill by Lindberg.
The scored tied eight
times with the lead changing five. With
the score tied at 12, WKU scored two-straight points on a UALR error and a kill
to take the advantage and sustain it.
The Lady Toppers won the set on a UALR service error.
In the second set, UALR
jumped to the 1-0 lead on a WKU attack error.
The scored tied four times and the lead changed twice, before the
Trojans gained an 8-6 edge on two Lady Topper attack errors.
WKU tied the score at ten,
but the Trojans scored back-to-back points on a kill by Lindberg and a service
ace by Kristi Block. WKU answered back
with six-straight points for the 16-12 lead.
WKU held the Trojans to 17
points and scored the finals three points on two UALR attack errors and a kill
by Lindsay Williams.
UALR opened the third set
on a kill by Elbert, before a UALR service error tied the score. The score tied again, before WKU jumped to a
5-2 advantage on a kill and two UALR attack errors.
With the score 8-5 in
favor of WKU, the Lady Toppers scored seven-straight points for lead. WKU held the Trojans to 12 points and scored
the final three including winning the set and match on a UALR attack error.
UALR continues volleyball
action on Friday, October 1 as the team travels to South Alabama. Match is set for 7 p.m.
