Okla.—The UALR women's basketball team dropped the team's
third-straight contest on Tuesday as the Trojans lost 78-63 at Oral Roberts.
The Trojans fall to 3-7 on the season.
Britteni
Williams led the team in points with 17 and in rebounds with
five, while Taylor Gault and Janette Merriex each contributed 14
points in the loss.
ORU
(7-3) won the tip and went on a 13-0 run including seven UALR turnovers and
seven points from Kevi Luper. UALR scored the team's first field goal at the
14:22 mark on a jumper by Britteni Williams followed by a jumper by Clark to
bring the Golden Eagle lead to 13-4.
After
back-to-back three-pointers by Luper, a layup by Britteni Williams from Nia
Gregory sparked a 7-0 run by the Trojans including a three-pointer by Merriex
to cut the ORU lead to 19-11 with 5:45 until the half.
ORU
scored seven-straight points, before the Trojans scored on free throws by Megan
Williams at the 4:17 mark.
Both
teams exchanged points, before five-straight points by Britteni Williams
including a layup and one sparked an 8-3 run over the remainder of the half to
bring the ORU half-time lead to 33-25.
The
second half opened with both teams recording baskets with UALR's coming from a
free throw by Britteni Williams and a three by Merriex, before Luper scored
six-straight points off of two UALR turnovers to extend the lead to 43-29 with
15:32 remaining.
Over
the next three minutes, OUR outscored the Trojans eight to seven to maintain a
51-36 lead. Both teams scored, before Gault recorded five-straight points to
bring the score to 58-43 in ORU's favor with 7:41 on the clock.
The
Golden Eagles maintained the team's lead over the next three minutes scoring 12
points including two three-pointers from Luper to UALR's nine for the 69-52
edge with 3:41 on the clock.
ORU
kept the advantage in the remaining 2:55 as the Trojans received points from
Megan Williams, Britteni Williams and Merriex as the Golden Eagles won 76-63.
UALR
continues non-conference action on the road on Friday as the Trojans travel to
Brookings, S.D. to face South Dakota State. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
