NORMAN,
Okla.—The UALR volleyball team completed the Oklahoma
Invitational Saturday defeating Texas Southern 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-3) and
losing to Boise State 0-3 (19-25, 16-25, 15-25). The Trojans are now 5-9 overall.
In the win over Texas
Southern, Eva Xie led the team in
kills with 12 and in attack percentage with a .750 mark with no errors on 16
attempts. Sawyer Schaedig led the team in assists with 19, while Emily Pepperman led the team in digs
with eight.
Texas Southern (1-9)
scored a combined 28 points for the match.
The scored tied six times
with the lead changing hands four in set one.
The Trojans opened the set with a kill by Paige Gantar before TSU scored two-straight kills.
With the score tied at
eight, a kill by Allison Wyatt sparked
a four-point run for the Trojans for the 12-8 advantage.
The Tigers never recovered
scoring just 12 points as the Trojans scored the final eight points of the set.
UALR opened the second set
with a kill by Xie, before a Trojan attack error tied the score. The Trojans then rattled off nine-straight points
for the 9-1 lead.
Texas Southern scored just
13 points for the set as a kill by Kristi
Block won the set for the Trojans.
UALR recorded the team's
highest attack percentage in set three recording 13 kills on 19 attempts with
no errors and a .684 mark.
A kill by Gantar sparked an
8-0 run by the Trojans to start set three.
TSU scored just three points, as UALR recorded as many as nine-straight
points and won the set and match on a kill by Marleen de Zoete.
In the loss to Boise
State, Gantar recorded a team high of ten kills, while Daniele Souza Moura recorded a team high of 11 digs.
UALR opened the first set
with a kill by Gantar, before Boise State (8-3) ratted off three-straight
points for the lead.
The score tied two more
times with the Broncos maintaining the advantage. The Trojans scored 19 points as Boise State won
the set on a kill.
UALR recorded the team's
lowest attack percentage in set two as the Trojans recorded eight kills on 29
attempts with six errors and a .069 percentage.
BSU opened the set with a kill,
before a Bronco attack error sparked a 3-0 run by the Trojans.
The score tied four more
times with the lead changing three. The
Broncos held the Trojans to 16 points and scored the final four including a
UALR attack error and bad set for the win.
UALR took the 1-0 lead on
a kill by Gantar, before the Broncos gains a 2-1 advantage on a kill and UALR
attack error.
The scored tied two more
times with Boise State regaining the lead.
The Trojans came within one point, but the Broncos held the team to 15
points and won the set and match on a kill.
UALR opens Sun Belt
Conference action next weekend on the road.
The Trojans face WKU on Friday at 7 p.m., while on Sunday, the Trojans
face Middle Tennessee at 1 p.m.
