Trojans Score Four-Set Victory Over Georgia Southern

LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock volleyball scored itself a four-set win (26-24, 25-18, 23-25, 25-20) over Georgia Southern on Friday night at the Jack Stephens Center.
 
Marina Avram led the Trojans (8-16, 4-8 Sun Belt) with her 10th double-double of the season as she put down 18 kills and added 10 digs while hitting a team-high .292. Mya Robinson tallied her fifth double-double of the year with 13 kills and 18 digs. Taylor Lindberg came up one dig shy of a double-double with 42 assists, nine digs, five kills, four total blocks and two aces. Belissa Guidotti led the match with a career-high eight total blocks as she put down a career-high six kills and one ace.
 
Catherine Murray led the Eagles (7-16, 3-8 Sun Belt) with 15 kills while Joscelin Morrow had a match-high 19 digs. Lauren Reichard hit a match-high .368 with 10 kills and five total blocks.
 
After beginning the fourth set with a 3-3 tie, Little Rock went up 6-3 and never looked back as it led for the rest of the set. The Trojans hit a match-high .344 during the set as Avram led the Trojans with six kills. Guidotti put up a set-high three block assists. Little Rock earned four total blocks during the set.
 
With Little Rock hoping to walk away with a 3-0 win, Georgia Southern had other plans as it rallied to take the third set after trailing for the majority of the frame. Avram led the set with six kills as Lindberg had a set-high 13 assists during the frame. Robinson earned a set-high nine digs.
 
The Trojans had no problem taking the second set as it began the set with a 10-1 lead. Little Rock's largest lead of the match was 12 points at 20-8. It ended the set with a seven-point win. The Trojans had a match-high five total blocks during the set as Avram and Daisha Gillard had three block assists each.
 
Little Rock and Georgia Southern battled it out in the first set, but eventually, the Trojans earned the set win in extra points. Robinson and Avram each had five kills while Lindberg added 12 assists.
 
Gillard finished the match with seven kills and six total blocks while Maritza Mesa had five kills with six digs and three block assists. Sydnee Martin tallied 15 digs with one assist, and Nedima Kamberovic had one ace and a dig.
 
Little Rock led the match in kills (54-52), hitting (.206-.171), aces (4-2) and total blocks (14-8) while Georgia Southern led the match in assists (51-47) and digs (70-61). The Trojans' 14 total blocks were their most in a four-set match this season.
 
The win pushed Little Rock's all-time series record against Georgia Southern to 6-0.
 
Little Rock will return to action on Saturday as it faces Georgia State at 6:30 p.m., at the Jack Stephens Center.
