LITTLE ROCK – A tall test awaits Little Rock women's basketball (3-5) as it travels to face No. 3/6 Mississippi State (8-0) on Sunday at 2 p.m., at Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville, Mississippi. The SEC Network + matchup will pit the Trojans against the highest-ranked team they've ever faced.
Â
Last year's meeting between Little Rock and then No. 5 Mississippi State at the Jack Stephens Center was the first in the Division I era (1999-present) for the Trojans, and the Bulldogs were the highest-ranked team the Trojans had ever played. The Bulldogs walked away from the Jack with a 58-44 win. Sunday will mark the first time Little Rock has returned to Starkville since Feb. 6, 1988. The Bulldogs and Trojans were regular opponents during the 1980s as they met six times after the inaugural meeting on Feb. 9, 1983. To date, Little Rock has yet to defeat Mississippi State in eight meetings. The Bulldogs' smallest margin of victory against the Trojans occurred during the 1985-86 season as Mississippi State came away with a nine-point win.
