Trojans Grab Fourth Consecutive Sun Belt Victory

LITTLE ROCK- For the second time in two games, the Trojans found themselves on the winning end of a 3-0 score line with Sunday night's victory over Arkansas State. Fanney Einardottir put in an impressive performance, tallying a goal and an assist on the night.

"You know 3-0 makes it looks like a one-sided game, but I have to be honest, it wasn't a one-sided game," said Head Coach Mark Foster. "It was a really even game. I thought Arkansas State were brilliant tonight. I told the girls we earned a bit of luck tonight. I believe in sports you earn your luck by fighting hard. I think balls that weren't dropping our way early in the season are now dropping our way. I'd rather have things go our way towards the end of the season when it counts."

Little Rock got on the board just 21 seconds into the match when Jaclyn Purvine did well to maneuver her way into the penalty area and draw a foul. The Trojans were awarded a penalty kick which Liesa Seifert powerfully drove home to make the score 1-0.

The Red Wolves quickly shifted the run of play into their favor shortly after the opening goal as they quickly fired two shots on target and struck the post with a free kick.

In the 65th minute, Einarsdottir threaded a perfect through pass to Arola Aparicio Gili who took her shot first time and watched the ball fly into the middle of the net to double Little Rock's lead. This was the fifth goal of the season for the Spanish forward.

Einarsdottir scored a goal of her own when Doro Greulich did well to hold up play at the top of the box. The German flicked the ball to the left foot of Einarsdottir who found the back of the net for the second time in two games. This goal solidified the 3-0 score line and the three points for the Trojans.

Sara Johannsdottir made three saves between the posts for the Trojans and picked up her eighth shutout of the season.

The center back pairing of Samantha Rolka and Liesa Seifert were exceptional in their efforts to preserve back-to-back clean sheets on the weekend.

With their fourth consecutive win, Little Rock now sits alone in third place, just two points behind Coastal Carolina. The Trojans still have a game in hand on the top two teams in the table with the title still in sight.

Little Rock will return to the Coleman Sports and Recreation Complex for Family Weekend as the Trojans take on Troy on Oct. 19 and Georgia Southern on Oct. 21.
