Little Rock Sweeps UT Arlington in Bounce Back Match

LITTLE ROCK – The Little Rock Trojans (16-10, 8-6) swept UT Arlington 3-0 Thursday night, answering Tuesday's loss with a strong bounce back victory and avenging its loss to the Mavericks suffered early in conference play.

Maritza Mesa and Taylor Lindberg led the Trojan charge, Mesa recording a career-high hitting percentage (.727) and Lindberg moving to second on the all-time assist list (2,928) on the night.

Little Rock took the first frame 25-23, shutting down a UTA comeback after the Mavericks staved off four match-points. The second set featured the teams jockeying through six ties, but the Trojans took control at 11-10 and would go on a 7-2 run to propel themselves to a 25-15 win. The final frame was similar to the second, seeing eight ties, but Little Rock would wrestle the lead away twice to seal the match's finale 25-17.

Little Rock's Team took the match by a collective 20 points and moved to 9-2 this season in three set outings, having also now topped UTA in straight sets four times since their first meeting in 1995.
