Little Rock Bested by Former Sun Belt Foe WKU

Box Score LITTLE ROCK – The Little Rock Trojans were bested 68-56 by WKU Saturday night in the finale of Homecoming's Doubleheader. Kyra Collier led the Trojans with a game-high tying 22 points, having been the leading scorer in back-to-back contests for the first time in her career and for the third time this season.

Tonight's contest with WKU marks the fourth consecutive meeting with a team that was a NCAA Tournament team last year. Little Rock has faced six teams that competed in postseason play last year and will challenge four more teams this season that participated in extended play during this past March.

The Trojans came out of the first quarter on top 15-12, recording the squad's most opening quarter points in four outings, led by six points from Collier and Ronjanae DeGray. The former Sun Belt conference foes would continue to exchange blows for the duration of the first half, recording three of the games four ties and four of the six lead changes. The Lady Toppers would take a 31-30 advantage into the half on a layup that went through the cylinder with less than a minute to play, scoring the last points of the second half.

Little Rock went down by five, 35-30, in the beginning of the third quarter, but used an 8-0 run that spanned over four minutes, to put themselves back in the driver's seat 38-35. WKU's effort on the defensive glass in the second half swung the lead back in their favor, regaining the lead two minutes later that would not be relinquished for the remainder of the evening.

Little Rock will be back in action, against another team that reached the postseason last year, next Saturday, Dec. 8, facing K-State. In another double-header, the women's contest will begin at 3 p.m. with the men's following at 5:30 against Central Arkansas.
