TULSA – Led by 35 points from the Little Rock bench and a +19 rebound margin, the Trojans come out victorious 63-53 over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane Monday night.
Ron DeGray collected a game-high 19 points and
Terrion Moore collected a career-high 12 rebounds. Every Little Rock player found pay dirt this evening, a first this season, and three Trojans, DeGray,
Kyra Collier and
Tori Lasker all collecting double-figure totals. Little Rock's 44 rebounds, a season-high, came by way of 28 on the defensive end and 16 on the offensive glass, creating 15 second chance points and out rebounding the Golden Hurricane by a margin of 13 in offensive rebounds.
The Trojans started off slow, not scoring its first basket until 6:57, but the offense got cooking, notching 19 points in the opening quarter and tying its highest first quarter point output of the season. Five Trojans added to the scoring effort in the first quarter, including Lasker getting her first points of the season.
The squads would go into the break tied at 29 after buckling down on defense in the second quarter. At the half, the Trojans would out hustle the Golden Hurricane 22-13 on the glass and would have more than half, 15 total, of its point coming from the bench.
Krystan Vornes would also tally her first points as a Trojan in the second quarter, going two-of-two from the charity stripe.
Tulsa answered with the first points of the third quarter, but the Trojans responded by ripping off an 8-0 run to regain the lead. The Golden Hurricane countered by holding Little Rock scoreless two minutes, but the Trojans would respond with another run, this time scoring seven straight points.
Little Rock kept the pressure on in the final 10 minutes, pushing its lead and finishing the game on top 63-53.
Little Rock is back in action Friday as they take on the Memphis Tigers in Grind City.
