Trojans Outlasted 48-44 by Missouri State

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Despite a late fourth quarter rally by the Trojans, Missouri State slipped past Little Rock 48-44 Sunday afternoon in the JQH Arena.

Kyra Collier led the Trojan Scoring effort for the fifth time in the past six contests, recording 16 points and Ronjanae DeGray paced the boards with 11 rebounds. Adding 10 points, DeGray notched the second double-double of her career. Collier also tied her career mark in steals with six against the Lady Bears. The Trojans also packed the score book with eight players registering at least one point.

The first quarter would manifest itself as a defensive battle with the first points of the contest not coming until the clock read 7:07 and Raeyana DeGray would start off a Trojan 6-0 run with a pair of free throws. Missouri State started to pull away in the second quarter, going up by as many as 11, but a late Little Rock rally cut the Lady Bears lead to five heading into the locker room at halftime.

Little Rock and Missouri State spent the third quarter trading baskets in runs with the Lady Bears pulling ahead and the Trojans answering back. The Trojans would fight back in the fourth quarter, opening the final period with a 15-4 run, bringing themselves within one and eventually taking the lead, 42-41, with 4:18 left on the clock. Missouri State would regain control for the game's third and final lead change at 3:48 and would hold on to take it 48-44.

Little Rock's heads back to the confines of the Jack Stephens Center to open up Sun Belt Conference play against ULM on Friday, Jan. 3 at 6:30 p.m. and face Louisiana Saturday, Jan. 5 at 3 p.m. Tickets for the games can be purchased here.
