Trojans Win Fourth Consecutive Match

LITTLE ROCK-  Another brilliant two-goal performance from Jaclyn Purvine helped the Trojans pick up their fourth consecutive victory as they defeated Mississippi Valley State 3-0 on the road.

"I was delighted at how we moved the ball," said Head Coach Mark Foster. "We used a lot of players. I was delighted at how they came in and moved the ball and freshened up the play a little bit. It was also very nice to keep another clean sheet."

Purvine now has six goals in her last four games to lead the Sun Belt Conference. Sairra Tucker also provided excellent service, delivering the assist for both of Purvine's goals. Maeve Burger also continued her good form with a late goal to seal the 3-0 result.

The first goal came in the sixth minute when Tucker made her way down the left side of the box and whipped in a cross that found Purvine in front of goal, she wasted no time to slot the ball into the back of the net and give the Trojans an early 1-0 lead.

The Purvine-Tucker tandem struck again in the 14th minute. Tucker found her way into the box and her shot was driven off the post. Purvine was there to pounce on the loose ball and promptly knock it home.

The goal that sealed the result came from Burger in the 62nd minute. Doro Greulich managed to hold up play at the top of the penalty area before she laid the ball off in front of Burger. The pass caught the German midfielder right in stride as she calmly placed it into the corner of the net to cap off the 3-0 win.

Little Rock's defense has also proved to be in stellar form as of late. The team has only conceded one goal in their last four matches. The defensive back line of Samantha Rolka, Liesa Seifert, Nora Hellmers and Bergros Asgeirsdottir has been fantastic. Sara Johannsdottir has also been solid between the posts as she now has three shutouts on the season.

Purvine now leads the Sun Belt in goals (6), points (14) and points per game (2.33). Tucker leads the team in assists (3) after today's match.

The Trojans will return to action Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. when they take on Big 12 opponent TCU at the Coleman Sports and Recreation Complex.
