Five Things to Know
- C-U.S(oon).A.
See you soon, C-USA. Thursday's game at Florida Atlantic marks a string of three straight games for the Trojans against Conference USA (C-USA) opponents. With games at Florida Atlantic (Nov. 21), at Western Kentucky (Nov. 24) and back at home against Louisiana Tech (Dec. 2), the Trojans will get a good test against a broad spectrum of C-USA schools, having already faced C-USA Preseason favorite Rice. That should be a good test for the Trojans as C-USA finished just behind the Sun Belt Conference in the conference RPI rankings, coming in at 13th (.4963) while the Sun Belt finished 12th last year (.5003).
- Consistent Force
If you think you're seeing a lot of Kyra Collier - and that's a thought that should trouble Little Rock opponents - then you are not wrong. Not only has she played the full 40 minutes over each of the last two games (against LSU and Central Arkansas), she enters this week's action leading the Sun Belt and ranking 17th nationally in minutes played per game (38.63) and 40th nationally in total minutes played (154:31).
- Tennis, Anyone?
If national rankings - and Little Rock's stingy defense - holds true the Thursday's game could have fans watching a lot of back-and-forth action. Entering this week's game, Little Rock ranks 104th nationally in turnovers forced (forcinv 19.33 per game) but, on the flip side, Florida Atlantic ranks 342nd (out of 347 Division I teams) in turnovers per game (24.7 per game).
- 3-D
Little Rock enters this week's games as one of the tougher teams to face on the perimter, ranking 27th nationally (and second in the Sun Belt) by limiting teams to just 21.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Only Texas State (20.0 percent) bests that number in the Sun Belt Conference. The Owls are no slouches around the arc, either. FAU opponents are shooting just 27.6 percent from long range, a mark that ranks 114th nationally and fifth in Conference USA.
- Foley Inches Closer to 800
With Little Rock's win over Central Arkansas last Saturday, Little Rock Head Coach Joe Foley notched his 790th career win and inched close to the No. 800 milestone. Foley and the Trojans enter Thursday's game at FAU needing only 10 more wins to hit the 800 milestone.
