LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock Head Volleyball Coach
Van Compton announced the addition of two middle blockers to the Trojan ranks for the 2020 season.
Nicole Medlin (Fort Smith, Arkansas) and Victoria Cavalcanti (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) will both join Little Rock's Team as freshmen in the fall.
Nicole Medlin
Medlin, a 6-foot-0 middle blocker out of Northside High School in Fort Smith guided her team to the state quarterfinals this past season as she hit a dominating .530 while putting down 397 kills. She was also dominant defensively at the net for Northside, registering 117 total blocks in 101 sets played.
Van Compton on Nicole…
"Nicole is a great local talent that we are so happy to keep at home in Arkansas. I have been very impressed by her athletic ability and volleyball instincts. She has what it takes to become a dominant middle blocker in our program and I look forward to have her get on campus."
Victoria Cavalcanti
Cavalcanti, a 6-foot-5 middle blocker from Escola Cacapava de Mello in Brazil while also playing with Club SESI in her native country. She brings a 10-foot-1 vertical to Little Rock and will be joining the Trojans after winning the Under-21 state championship in Rio de Janeiro and the Under-19 state championship in Sao Paulo Silver Division. A member of the 2017 Brazilian Junior National Championship runner-up, she was also runner-up in the U21 Taca Parana, Brazil's national club championship.
Van Compton on Victoria…
"Victoria has played at the highest level in Brazil and is a very experienced player. She has been exposed to the greatest competition and coaching and, because of that, not only brings great athleticism but also a very high volleyball IQ. Obviously, her height definitely caught our eyes when we first saw her."
