Box Score CORVALLIS, Ore.- Little Rock's season came to an end after Gonzaga snatched a 68-51 win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. An early 16-0 run from the Zags proved to be too much for the Trojans, who out-scored the opposition in the second and third quarter, but could not complete the comeback.
Â
Tori Lasker led the Trojans with 16 points, going 6-11 from the floor and 4-9 from three-point range to pace the offense.
Terrion Moore also put in a solid performance, notching 13 points and four assists on the day.
Â
It was all Gonzaga from the start as they started the game on a 16-0 run.
Ronjanae DeGray finally ended the scoring drought with an offensive rebound and put-back to get the Trojans on the board. That would be the only Little Rock basket of the quarter, as the team went 1-15 from the floor in the first 10 minutes. The Zags held a 21-2 lead going into the second quarter.
Â
Three-pointers from
Tori Lasker and
Yanina Inkina started the scoring for the Trojans in the second period.
Terrion Moore got in on the scoring with five consecutive points just before the media timeout. A step-back three from Lasker cut the lead to 13 points as it forced a Gonzaga timeout halfway through the second quarter. Little Rock out-scored the Zags 18-11 in the period make the score 32-20 going into the break despite only shooting 26.9 percent from the floor.
Â
Lasker started things off with a mid-range jumper on the Trojans' first possession in the second half.
Kyra Collier then got her name on the scoresheet with a layup high off the glass. The teams would trade baskets and Little Rock would trail by 11 going into the media timeout in the third quarter. Back-to-back baskets from Lasker, including a three-pointer, would momentarily cut the lead to single digits in the quarter. She was not done, however, as the sophomore made yet another triple, her fourth of the day. Despite Lasker's shooting display in the quarter, the Trojans would trail 49-38 going into the final 10 minutes.
Â
Moore opened the scoring in the fourth quarter with a shot from beyond the arc. The Trojans would stay within striking distance with just over four minutes to go when Collier knocked down a free-throw line jumper. Unfortunately, it was too little too late as the Zags would grab a 68-51 win to advance to the second round while Little Rock's season came to an end.
Â
The Trojans end the season as Sun Belt Conference Champions, finishing atop the conference and making an NCAA Tournament for the second straight season.
