I-40 Showdown Concludes at Dickey-Stephens Park

LITTLE ROCK- The Trojans will play in-state rival Central Arkansas on May 14 for a midweek matchup with the Bears, first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. at Dickey-Stephens Park in Little Rock, Ark. This will conclude the Governor's I-40 Showdown between the two universities.
 
Little Rock is currently 24-26 (15-11 Sun Belt) after a series victory over conference leaders Texas State and a walk-off win over Oral Roberts. The Trojans took two games from the Bobcats behind big performances from Riley Pittman and starting pitchers Chandler Fidel and Hayden Arnold. Fidel produced another magnificent start, going nine innings while only allowing three runs in Friday's start on the mound.
 
Pittman Stays Hot
Riley Pittman had an incredible week at the plate, going 8-for-16 on the week, with two home runs and five runs scored. In the game against Oral Roberts, Pittman blasted a walk-off home run in the 10^th inning to start the week with a win. The senior was 2-for-4 with a home run in the series opener against Texas State and followed that up with another 2-for-4 day on Sunday in the series finale.
 
Scouting Central Arkansas
The Bears come into this weekend's series with a 27-23 record (17-10 Southland). Central Arkansas is coming off a series sweep over Abilene Christian. The Bears have posted a .245 team batting average with 20 home runs thus far. They are led by Josh Ragan hitting at a .292 clip with four home runs and 31 RBI. Their pitching staff has been solid, posting a 3.62 team ERA, Cody Davenport leading the way with a 2.16 ERA in his 13 starts.
 
Back to the Sun Belt
After this midweek matchup, the Trojans will conclude Sun Belt regular season play when head to Jonesboro, Ark. to face Arkansas for a three-game set starting Thursday, May 16. First pitch with the Red Wolves is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Tomlinson-Stadium Kell Field.
