LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – For a young team, the ability to learn on the fly and correct their mistakes is pivotal. This weekend will be a test of that growth ability when Little Rock Volleyball travels to Tulsa for the ORU Classic.
Â
The Trojans will face Air Force (0-3), Illinois State (2-1) and host Oral Roberts (2-1) in the two-day event at the Cooper Aerobics Center on the ORU campus. Live video and live stats will be available for all three matches.
Â
Series History
- Air Force: This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
- Illinois State: This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
- Oral Roberts: ORU leads the all-time series, 19-8. The Golden Eagles edged Little Rock in their last meeting, 3-2, on Aug. 31, 2012.
Â
Three Things to Know
- Tough to Scout
All three matches will be tough to scout for every team competing in the tournament. Not only is it early in the season but Little Rock has never faced two of the programs competing in the tournament (Air Force, Illinois State) and the last time the Trojans faced host ORU was in 2012 so there are no recent meetings to scout from.
- All Eyes on the Freshmen
Early season growth by younger players is always important and probably none so important as between the first and second weeks of play. With seven freshmen and nine newcomers on the Little Rock squad list, the ability of the newcomers to correct their mistakes from last weekend will be important.
- Approaching 500 Digs
Senior Diana Giordani – a team captain and leader on the 2019 Trojan squad – is quickly approaching 500 career digs in her time in a Little Rock uniform. She enters the weekend with 488 digs and a chance to hit the 500 mark in Little Rock's opening game of the weekend against Illinois State.
