Little Rock Returns to Birmingham

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock Track and Field makes its second of three trips to Birmingham this indoor season with the Green and Gold Invitational hosted by UAB.

Action begins Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. while Saturday's events start at 10 a.m.

Teams Competing
Little Rock, Alabama, Alabama State, Alcorn State, Chattanooga, Jackson State, Middle Tennessee, New Orleans, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, Texas Southern, Troy, UAB (women only).

Three Things to Know
  1. Sweet Home Alabama
It might as well be for the Trojans this indoor season. Little Rock spent the second week of January at the Birmingham CrossPlex training. Now the Trojans are back for the Green and Gold Invitational before making one final trip to The Magic City for the Sun Belt Indoor Championships in late February.
  2. You've Got the Wright Stuff
The rest of the Sun Belt is still chasing Elijah Wright's season-opening time in the 400m. His mark, 48.77 adjusted to 48.01 for a banked track, is still more than a half-second faster than anyone else in the league to date. With a fast track at the CrossPlex, he will have a chance to improve upon that mark.
  3. Invite Only
Little Rock's distance runners, led by Olympian and American mile record holder Alan Webb, will get a challenge Friday as several Trojans will be competing in a variety of middle distance and distance invitational races. While mainly consisting of younger runners, the Trojans will get a good test Friday.
