BIRMINGHAM – Little Rock freshman
Elijah Wright continues to set the pace in the 400m around the Sun Belt Conference as action concluded at the Green and Gold Invitational in Birmingham Saturday.
Wright's time of 48.33 placed third in the race while also going down as the third-fastest time in school history. Already the Sun Belt leader in the event, Wright continued to improve upon his time in the event.
Meanwhile
Mia Dunning continued her domination of The Magic City. A day after setting a new school record, Dunning set a new personal record in the shot pot with a throw of 42-1.25 (12.83m) to finish sixth. That mark ranks sixth in school history.
In the pole vault,
Brenna Harris finished seventh with a mar of 8-7.5 (2.63m) while another seventh-place finish came from
Allison Risius in the 5k, running 20:41.73.
Back on the men's side,
Anthony Puerta registered a podium finish by placing third in the 3k with a time of 9:07.62 while
Skylar Weldon ran 1:59.51 in the 800m to finish sixth.
Garrett Standifird's throw of 43-10.5 (13.37m) in the shot put placed him fourth in the event.
Little Rock will split its squads next week with part of the team heading to the Texas Tech Invitational in Lubbock, Texas while the rest of the team will compete at the Wendy's Pittsburg State Invitational in Kansas.
