Five Things to Know
- Eagles Flying High into Little Rock
Georgia Southern heads to Little Rock having claimed a pair of wins last weekend of ULM (64-47) and Louisiana (83-67) and is in a three-way tie for first place in the Sun Belt standings alongside Troy and UT Arlington. It is Georgia Southern's best league start in league play since joining the Sun Belt Conference.
- Streak on the Line
The Trojans have made a habit of winning home Sun Belt games, so much so that it has been several years since dropping a home Sun Belt contest. Little Rock has won 36 consecutive home conference games, a streak that dates back to January 7, 2016 when Louisiana edged the Trojans, 65-58.
- Teal is the color of Free
Throws, that is. Teal Battle enters this game ranked 50th in the nation with 55 free throws made this season. She's been able to make so many free throws because she has been fouled enough to have attempted 75 free throws this season, a mark that ranks 53rd in the nation. Battle is tough at the line, hitting 73.3 percent of her free throw attempts, ranking 221st in the nation and 10th in the Sun Belt Conference.
- Three Points Might be a Long Shot
Heading into this game, Little Rock has done an admirable job at defending the 3-point shot with Trojan opponents scoring just 18.4 percent of their points from long range. Limiting that number has Little Rock ranked eighth in the nation. Now contrast that with a Georgia Southern team that just knocked down a school record 14 three-pointers in their last game out, an 83-67 win over Louisiana.
- Collier Could be the Eighth
It's not just notable that Kyra Collier is approaching milestones in both career points (1,000) and career rebounds (500), it is remarkable. When she reaches both of those milestones, she will be just the eighth player in Little Rock history to do so. Quite an achievement considering Little Rock boasts a program that has reached the postseason 11 times under the tenure of Hall of Fame head coach Joe Foley. Of the seven (soon to be eight) players to reach this accomplishment, only one (Adrian Brown, 1981-85) did so prior to Foley's tenure.
