Little Rock Drops Series Opener to 15th-Ranked Bobcats

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Laura Jansen put down 10 kills, Nicole Medlin added a career-high six blocks and the Trojans forced extra points in a set once again but it wouldn't be enough to stop the 15th-ranked Bobcats in a 3-0 loss at Texas State Friday morning.

The second set went to extra points thanks to a late run by Little Rock (1-9, 1-8 Sun Belt) as the Trojans served up four aces in the set, including two by Halee Pedro. After the set was tied 24-24 off a Nejra Najic kill, the 15th-ranked hosts forced two errors to claim the set.

Jansen's 10 kills led the Trojans, as did Medlin's career-best six blocks. In all, Little Rock recorded more aces and blocks than Texas State (12-1, 7-0), but the Bobcats maintained their perfect league record by hitting .268 (to Little Rock's .117) and recording 20 more digs than the visitors.

Kennedi Rutherford led Texas State with 15 kills and was one of three Bobcats in double figures. Emily DeWalt dished out 45 assists on 50 total kills for Texas State.
