NEW ORLEANS – After two consecutive matches with 20-plus kills, Little Rock junior
Laura Jansen has been named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
In two matches at Arkansas State last weekend, Jansen averaged 5.00 kills per set, hit .250, put down 20 kills in each match and let the Trojans to a 3-1 Friday night in Arkansas State's home and season debut.
Jansen added three aces to her effort with two assists. Not just an offensive power, she totaled 46 digs – including a career-high 24 digs in Saturday's match – and posted 20-20 double-doubles in both matches. She also added four total blocks including two block solos in Saturday's match.
This marks the third weekly honor a Trojan has received this season.
Leigh Maher was named the Sun Belt's Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 22 and Sept. 29. The honor also marks Jansen's first career Sun Belt weekly accolade.
Little Rock returns home to face UT Arlington in a three-match series this weekend at the Jack Stephens Center.
