Five Things To Know
- Can Little Rock Get Its SECond Win?
As Little Rock welcomes No. 10/13 Texas A&M to the Jack Stephens Center, the Trojans are going for their SECond win over a Southeastern Conference opponent this season. Little Rock claimed an 82-74 win over Vanderbilt last Saturday and could continue its giant-slaying ways if it can upset the Aggies on Thursday.
- 1600 WINsylvania Avenue
On Thursday evening, the mailing address for the Jack Stephens Center might as well change to 1600 WINsylvania Avenue. As Little Rock hosts No. 10/10 Texas A&M, two of the nation's most successful coaches will be guiding their respective teams. Gary Blair (817 wins) and Joe Foley (803) have a combined 1,620 wins between the two and are fourth and fifth (respectively) winningest coaches in the country.
- Dime Tandem
Share the (Little) Rock. It happens at the Jack Stephens Center and it doesn't matter what gender you are. Little Rock's Mayra Caicedo (women) leads the nation with 30 assists while Markquis Nowell (men) leads the country with 45 assists.
- Mighty Mayra
Don't let her size fool you, Mayra Caicedo is a threat anytime she is on the floor ... which is a lot. The 5-foot-3 junior point guard not only averages 38.91 minutes per game, she is the national leader in assists (30) and ranks second nationally in assists per game (10.0). Caicedo also ranks ninth in the nation in assist percentage (48.4%) - marking the percentage of field goals a teammate makes off a Caicedo pass.
- Anti-Theft Device
Little Rock's style of play early on this season has been its own anti-theft device. Trojan opponents have recorded just 4.7 steals per game, a low rate that ranks Little Rock 28th nationally. Additionally, Little Rock opponents have just a 5.5% steal rate (percentage of Trojan possessions where the ball was stolen), a mark that ranks 32nd in the country.
