Five Things to Know
- Rammer Jammer Yellowhammer
Little Rock will swing through the Yellowhammer State this week with a pair of Sun Belt games at Troy (Thursday) and South Alabama (Saturday).
- Damaging Duo
When Little Rock is successful this season, it is because of the damage that the duo of Kyra Collier and Teal Battle can inflect on teams. When those two players combine to score 30 points or more this season, the Trojans have a 6-3 mark.
- Battle's Charity Ranks Among the Program's Best
Teal Battle's free throw marks aren't just among the national best, they are among some of the best single-season marks in Little Rock history. Battle's 97 free throws are tied for 10th in Little Rock history matching the 97 free throws by Jocelyn Love (2004-05) and Taylor Ford (2012-13). Meanwhile her 142 free throw attempts ranks tied for eighth in school history alongside Shanity James (2013-14).
- Three Points Might be a Long Shot
Heading into this game, Little Rock has done an admirable job at defending the 3-point shot with Trojan opponents scoring just 19.1 percent of their points from long range. Limiting that number has Little Rock ranked eighth in the nation. And that defense is even warding off teams from challenging from long range. Little Rock opponents have a Three-Point Rate (Percentage of all scoring attempts (shots and free throw trips) that are three-point attempts) of 22.2 percent, a mark that ranks 22nd in the nation. On the other hand, Troy is limiting opponents to shooting just 27.2 percent from beyond the arc. While Thursday's game may be high-scoring, it is not likely that those point will come from long range.
- Kyra Playing at a Record Rate
Kyra Collier's average of 38.3 minutes per game this season is currently on pace for a school record. At this pace, her average time on the court would top Asriel Rolfe's 37.4 mpg played over 31 games during the 2010-11 season to set a new single-season record at Little Rock.
