Champagne, Ward Named to Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll

SAN FRANCISCO – Little Rock wrestlers Jose Champagne and Conner Ward earned the first academic honors of their respective careers, both named to the Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll this Tuesday. Not only is this their first recognition, but they also will go down as the first two Trojan wrestlers in program history to land on the list.

Any student-athlete with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above, and who has served at least one year in residence at the institution, is eligible to receive all-academic honors. Since both Champagne and Ward were part of a small group that had been on campus representing the Trojans before the inaugural 2019-20 wrestling season, they were eligible for nomination.

Ward holds a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.362 while majoring in Applied Communications. The redshirt freshman started at 141 pounds in every match for the Trojans in their inaugural season, making the podium at the Pac-12 Championships earlier this month.

Champagne is majoring in World Languages and boasts a grade-point-average of 3.667. The redshirt junior was a starter at 157 pounds for Little Rock in their inaugural season. He was the sole Trojan that was neither pinned nor beaten by tech fall throughout the year.
