LAFAYETTE, La. – It's tournament time and you can throw out the records because all that matters from this point on is going 1-0. That is the focus for Little Rock this week as the Trojans open Sun Belt Tournament play Tuesday afternoon at the Cajundome facing Appalachian State.
Â
The meeting will mark the fourth consecutive year the fifth-seeded Trojans and the eighth-seeded Mountaineers will meet in the league's postseason tournament with Little Rock having won the last three meetings, and the previous 13 meetings overall.
Â
Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Trey Schaap will have the call on the Little Rock Trojans Radio Network (Flagship: 920AM The Sports Animal) for fans back in the Natural State.
Â
The winner will advance to Wednesday's second round to face the winner of the No. 4 seed and host Louisiana versus No. 9 Georgia Southern game.

Five Things to Know
- This is not a repeat of 2019, 2018, 2017…
If you feel like you've seen this before, you're not wrong. Tuesday's contest marks the fourth consecutive year that Little Rock will face Appalachian State in the Sun Belt Tournament and, with the Trojans holding a 13-0 all-time record over App State, you have to think the Mountaineers are ready for the opportunity to end a streak.
- Death. Taxes. Trojans on the All-Conference Team.
Kyra Collier (first team) and Teal Battle (third team) were named to the Sun Belt's All-Conference Teams on Monday, March 9. Collier's first team selection marks the seventh consecutive year that Little Rock has received a first team honor while this continues the streak of the Trojans receiving at least one all-conference honoree every year Joe Foley has coached Little Rock's Team. The pair are the 32nd and 33rd all-conference honorees received by Little Rock. Since Joe Foley took over the Trojan program, no other Sun Belt team has garnered as many All-Conference honorees as the Trojans have. With 33 accolades claimed, Little Rock leads the way with Middle Tennessee (24), Western Kentucky (23), Arkansas State (23) and South Alabama (20) following. Little Rock joined the Sun Belt in 1999 and all 33 all-conference honors claimed by Trojan student-athletes have come under the direction of Joe Foley.
- Paint By Numbers
For Little Rock, it all comes down to the paint. The Trojans are 9-2 this year when out-rebounding their opponent but just 2-16 when getting out-rebounded. And when getting those rebounds, scoring in the paint is critical as well. Little Rock is 7-1 when scoring more points in the paint but just 4-17 fwhen scoring fewer or the same amount of points in the paint. That is an important stat to know as Appalachian State's Bayley Plummer is returning to her normal form in the paint. In the first meeting between the two teams, Plummer has missed several games/weeks prior to the trip to Little Rock with her 28 minutes played (8 points, 9 rebounds) marking her first action since her abeyance.
- Steal My Sunshine
If the song "Steal My Sunshine" is stuck in the heads of South Alabama players, don't blame them. That is because Little Rock's Kyra Collier set a career high on March 7 with seven steals against the Jaguars, the second-most steals by a player in Little Rock history and most in the modern era. The only Trojan to record more steals in a single game was Angela Jones with eight on Dec. 4, 1984 in a game against Philander Smith.
- Queen-Teal
Teal Battle, whose first name is officially " Quential," set a program record by going 12-for-12 from the free throw line on March 7 against South Alabama. Her 100% free throw rate is a school record and she hit the most free throws in a single game without missing in Little Rock history.
