LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – At the Jack Stephens Center this weekend, a Little Rock team that leads the nation in blocking will host an undefeated Louisiana squad as Sun Belt Conference play opens for both teams. Tweet #LittleRocksTeam
 
The three-match series, beginning Friday at 11 a.m., will pit the reigning Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week (Little Rock's Leigh Maher) against the Sun Belt's Freshman of the Week (Louisiana's Taylor Gates).

Three Things to Know

1. The Maher of Little Rock
   Leigh Maher (pronounced: Mayor) is already making her mark on Little Rock's Team. Named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week last week following her career-high 21 digs, Maher enters the opening week of Sun Belt play ranked first in the nation in digs with an average of 7.0 digs per set.
2. Block Party at the Jack
   The Trojans got off to a strong start at the net during the opening week of play by averaging 3.33 blocks per set. That high number, led by a pair of freshmen (Nicole Medlin and Zanobia Willis) recording five blocks each, puts Little Rock atop the nation in blocking.
3. New Format
   Little Rock will host Louisiana this weekend with a brand new format for Sun Belt Conference play during COVID times. Rather than a single match against a single opponent, the Trojans will now face each of the five other SBC West Division programs in a three-match series with Friday matches set for 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. with Saturday's match to begin at 1 p.m.
