FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Little Rock's jumpers led the Trojans Saturday as the indoor track and field season resumed at the Arkansas Invitational in Fayetteville.
Dion Murombe posted a new personal record in the triple jump by over 2 ½ feet, jumping 48-8.75 (14.85m) to register the third-best mark in school history as he placed sixth in the competition.
Meanwhile in the women's long jump,
Teresa Thomas posted the second-best mark in school history with a jump of 18-6 (5.64m) to place sixth while Rondaisha McNeal followed in seventh as her jump of 17-11.5 (5.47m) ranks seventh best in school history.
Thomas also stood out on the track as her 200m time of 25.49 placed her seventh at the meet while also ranking tied for 10th in school history. She was closely followed in the 200m by
Brandi Allen, who ran 25.54 to finish eighth, and
Kendall Johnson's time of 25.56 that placed the freshman ninth. Johnson also ran the fifth-best 60m dash time in school history, placing sixth with a time of 7.76.
Overall, the men's team finished fifth at the Arkansas Invitational by scoring 33 points while the women's team finished seventh, scoring 9.66 points.
Continuing the success in the jumps,
Shelby Dunlap posted the fifth-best triple jump mark in school history with a leap of 35-9.5 (10.91m), placing 11th overall. She also ran a personal best time of 1:01.11 in the 400m, finishing ninth.
On the men's side,
Cameron Jackson posted a standout performance as his 60m dash time of 6.77 ranks fourth in school history and gave him a third-place finish and he also finished fifth in the 200m, running 21.61.
Andrew Payton ran 1:23.04 in the 600m to finish sixth, recording the third-best time in school history.
Little Rock returns to action on Jan. 22 as the Trojans head to Birmingham, Alabama for the Samford Invitational.
