Five Things to Know
- Nothing But Net
This weekend's series between Little Rock and Louisiana will be a meeting of two of the top four Sun Belt teams in the NET rankings. Little Rock leads the Sun Belt with a NET ranking of 125 while UT Arlington comes in at 176 in the NET rankings, fourth among Sun Belt programs.
- Teal is the Color of Free
Little Rock has a dangerous threat at the free throw anytime number 35 steps to the line. Teal Battle ranks 229th in the nation and ninth in the Sun Belt with a 76.2% mark at the charity stripe this season. Moreover, her averages of 3.2 free throws made per game and 4.2 free throws attempted per game both rank in the top 250 in the nation. That extends to Louisiana as well. Brandi Williams (115th) and Skyler Goodwin (127th) both are among the national leaders in free throw percentage with both hitting over 81% of their free throw attempts. The duo rank fourth and fifth, respectively, in the Sun Belt.
- Welcome Back
It's been two years since Louisiana last visited the Jack Stephens Center as Monday marks their first visit to Little Rock since Jan. 5, 2019. The Trojans, always at the forefront of hospitality, pledge to mimic the mantra of Motel 6 - "We'll keep the lights on for you."
- It's A Team Effort
Scoring doesn't happen in a silo and that is especially true for Little Rock. Entering this game, the Trojans have compiled a 60.6% assisted shot rate, ranking 59th in the country. That number marks the percentage of field goals made by a team that came off an assist. Credit Mayra Caicedo and the rest of the Trojans showing that teamwork really does make the dream work.
- Offensive Glass
Krystan Vornes is becoming a relentless worker in the paint. The Trojan senior enters this weekend's play ranked 20th in the nation with 4.1 offensive rebounds per game while her 41 offensive rebounds this season ranks her 36th nationally. Her offensive rebound percentage - which is the percentage of offensive rebound opportunities actually rebounded - of 16.2% ranks 43rd in the nation. Not only is Krystan Vornes's work on the offensive glass among the best in the nation, it is the best in school history. Her average of 4.1 offensive rebounds per game is the best mark any Trojan has ever posted for a season and would set a new school record if the season ended today. That far surpasses the previous school best mark of 3.4 offensive rebounds per game averaged by Scealita Drennon during the 1999-2000 season.
