Heartbreak in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – Three Trojans posted 15 or more kills, two registered double-doubles but Little Rock suffered heartbreak in Jonesboro in a 3-2 loss to close out the regular season.
 
Little Rock (14-14, 5-11 Sun Belt) had a 2-0 lead before Arkansas State (15-13, 6-10) rallied back for three straight sets to claim the match. Set scores were 15-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-17 and 15-10.
 
Nedima Kamberovic led all players with 18 kills while Nicole Medlin tied her career-high with 15 kills and posted a .519 hitting percentage.
 
Alyssa Nayar (38 assists, 21 digs) and Laura Jansen (16 kills, 15 digs) both recorded double-doubles in the match while Zanobia Willis posted a match-high six blocks. In the end, Little Rock was out-hit, .219 to .199.
 
Elise Wilcox and Brianna Hollingshed both led Arkansas State with 11 kills while Tatum Ticknor registered a match-high 27 digs.
 
Little Rock secures fifth place in the West Division as it concludes the regular season and will play the fourth seed from the East Division in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The East Division standings are still in flux with matches taking place through the weekend.
