Five Things to Know
- Trojans Off to Best Shooting Start since 2006
Little Rock is off to its best shooting start to a season since the 2006-07 campaign, shooting 40% or better through its first three games. That includes 40% marks against Missouri State (26-65) and at Vanderbilt (20-50). The last time Little Rock was so effective from the field to start a season was in the 2006-07 season when Little Rock eclipsed the 40% mark in each of the first five games. However, that streak will get a big test Thursday when the Trojans host an undefeated Memphis squad at the Jack Stephens Center.
- Sunny Side of Sali
Sali Kourouma is off to a hot start this year and the Sun Belt better take notice. Entering this game, Kourouma leads the Sun Belt in several categories and has been the league's most prolific scorers. She's had a nice start to the season, leading the league and ranking 11th in the nation with 69 points scored through the first three games of the year.
- Value Add
Sali Kourouma joining Little Rock's team has been one of the most impactful additions to any Sun Belt team this year, scoring 15 or more points in each of her first three games and instantly becoming a difference maker on the court. Not just that, her Usage Percentage - detailing the percentage of plays during her time on the floor that a player used by either shooting, getting to the line or committing a turnover - ranks second in the nation and first in the Sun Belt Conference. Additionally, Kourouma ranks 57th in the nation in Player Efficiency Rating (42.3) which is an advanced statistic that estimates the per minute value of a player from the box score stats.
- Back Where She Belongs
Basketball is back and so is Mayra Caicedo - and the offense she can create on the court. Entering this game, the Colombian speedster leads the Sun Belt in minutes played and assists while ranking among the national leaders in both categories.
- Offensive Glass
Krystan Vornes is becoming a relentless worker in the paint. The Trojan fifth-year enters the season ranked 10th all-time in Little Rock history with an average of 2.2 offensive rebounds per game. Vornes will look to improve upon that number when the Trojans face Vanderbilt Friday evening. Last season, Vornes averaged 3.4 offensive rebounds per game - a mark that ranks second in school history. Her average of 8.9 rebounds throughout the season ranks third in program history.
