Five Things to Know
- Sali is Two-for-Two
Little Rock forward Sali Kourouma has repeated as the Sun Belt's Player of the Week. Kourouma averaged 28.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game as the Trojans claimed a pair of wins over Memphis and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. She scored 56 points in all, including a career-high 32 points in Little Rock's 55-50 win over Memphis. The redshirt sophomore shot an impressive 43.2% (19-for-44) and a dominating 78.9% (15 of 19) from the charity stripe on the week while averaging 28.0 minutes per game. She recorded five steal and one block, helping the Trojans prevent Memphis from hitting a field goal in the final six-plus minutes of the game last Thursday.
- Welcome Back
When Little Rock and Auburn tip-off Wednesday at the Jack Stephens Center, Auburn Head Coach Johnnie Harris will be making her return to the UA Little Rock campus. Harris was a two-year assistant coach for the Trojans right as Little Rock reinstated its women's basketball program, serving as a graduate assistant coach during the 1999-2000 season then earning a promotion to full-time assistant coach for the 2000-01 season. Harris was on the Trojans staff when Little Rock faced Auburn in its only other prior meeting, a neutral site battle in Tampa, Florida during the 2000-01 season.
- A Win Wouldn't be a First...
While Little Rock has not yet beaten Auburn, a win Wednesday would be big but wouldn't necessarily be a first. With a win over Vanderbilt already on the books, a Trojan victory Wednesday would mark the third time in program history that Little Rock has registered multiple wins over Power 5 teams in a single season. It first happened in 2008 (Oklahoma State, at Ole Miss) and then again in 2014 (at LSU, Oklahoma).
- Trojans on the Boards
The Trojans are relentless on the glass. That is why Little Rock ranks 62nd in the nation in offensive rebound rate (37.7%), which measures the percentage of offensive rebound opportunities actually rebounded. The Trojans also rank 86th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game (13.8).
- Sunny Side of Sali
Sali Kourouma is off to a hot start this year and the Sun Belt better take notice. Entering this game, Kourouma leads the Sun Belt in several categories and has been the league's most prolific scorers. She's had a hot start to the season, leading the league and ranking second in the nation in free throws made and seventh in the nation with 101 points scored through the first four games of the year.
