TULSA, Okla. – Krystan Vornes fell one rebound shy of her third straight double-double but cold shooting in the second and third quarters led to a 74-56 loss at Oral Roberts Sunday afternoon.
Â
Vornes scored 13 points and brought down nine rebounds in nearly 31 minutes on the court while
Mayra Caicedo added 10 points.
Angelique Francis scored a season-high seven points and matched Vornes' 3-for-4 effort at the charity stripe while also bringing down seven rebounds.
Â
Little Rock (4-3) hit a season-high six 3-pointers and shot 31.6% behind the arc but committed 14 turnovers and was out-rebounded 40-34.
Â
While Little Rock shot 33.8% (22 of 65) overall, the Trojans were just 7 of 32 (21.8%) from the floor over the middle two quarters and only scored 18 points in that time span. On the other side, Oral Roberts (2-4) put up 39 points and shot 55.6% in the same 20-minute period as it won its second consecutive game.
Â
Little Rock trailed by just four at halftime, 30-24, and cut it to a one-possession game early in the third quarter when Vornes hit one of two free throws.
Â
But that is when ORU turned on the pressure and the Trojans went cold as the Golden Eagles mounted a 13-0 run that put the game out of reach. Oral Roberts extended its lead to as much as 22 early in the fourth quarter.
Â
Tirzah Moore and Katie Scott both had 13 points to lead Oral Roberts while Keni Jo Lippe scored 12 and Hannah Cooper added 11.
Â
Little Rock plays at No. 23/18 Texas A&M on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. on SECN+. That will mark the third of five games against Southeastern Conference opponents for the Trojans. Little Rock enters Wednesday's contest with a 2-0 mark this season against SEC competition.
