LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Beginning what is likely the toughest non-conference schedule in the country, Little Rock will tip off the 2021-22 women's basketball season Tuesday evening when Missouri State visits the Jack Stephens Center.
Â
The Lady Bears, who return their entire roster after their second consecutive run to the Sweet 16 last year, are inexplicably not ranked to open the season despite being one of two teams in the country to return their entire roster.
Joe Foley, entering his 19
th season guiding the Trojans will once again be guiding Little Rock's Team against a challenging non-conference slate.
Â
Tuesday's game will follow the men's game as part of the doubleheader at the Jack Stephens Center. Cierra Clark (play-by-play) and Patrick Newton (analyst) will have the call on ESPN+ while Trey Schaap will call the action on 920 AM The Sports Animal.

Five Things to Know
- A Tradition Unlike Any Other?
Year-in, year-out Little Rock is known for testing itself early by facing any and all competition that dares face Little Rock's Team. This season is no different as the Trojans will take on Missouri State, Tulane and multiple Southeastern Conference schools including Alabama and Auburn, who will visit the Jack Stephens Center.
- Oh Say Can You Caicedo
Mayra Caicedo proved to be one of the most effective players in the country last year, ranking third nationally and first in the Sun Belt in assists and assists per game. She will look to improve upon that ranking and spark the Trojans offense when the season begins Tuesday.
- She's Back for Year (K)V!
Krystan Vornes is returning for her fifth year of collegiate competition after a knee injury ended her senior season just minutes into last year's Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Vornes has defied expectations and worked over the offseason to get back on the court in time for the start of the season.
- Making Her Natural State Return
After two seasons at New Mexico and in the Mountain West Conference, Azaria Robinson has joined Little Rock's Team. But when the Trojans tip off the season on Nov. 9, it won't be her first action in the Natural State. As a member of the Lobos, Robinson played at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Dec. 17, 2020 and saw six minutes of action. She'll see the Golden Lions once more on Nov. 16 when UAPB visits the Jack Stephens Center.
- Don't Poke the Bears
Missouri State will visit the Jack Stephens Center with a mission on its mind – get noticed. That is because the Lady Bears, despite back-to-back Sweet 16 runs and returning their entire roster, will start this year's campaign unranked.
