Little Rock Falls in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Little Rock was limited to just 26.3 percent shooting and couldn't recover from a Razorback 14-2 run to end the first half, dropping Sunday's first-ever meeting in Fayetteville, 73-39, in front of 3,451 fans at Bud Walton Arena.

Sali Kourouma and Raziya Potter each scored eight points to lead the Trojans but the pair combined for 5 of 29 shooting (17.2%) in the game as Little Rock (5-5) struggled from the field.

"They said it was going to be cold up here and it was cold," Little Rock Head Coach Joe Foley said. "We didn't shoot it very well at all. When we did make those shots early in the game, we got our heads down and didn't do what we were supposed to do defensively. I think it just snowballed from there."

The Trojans actually held a 13-12 lead after the first quarter of play, limiting the Razorbacks (9-2) to 16.7 percent shooting. But the Hogs warmed up as the Trojans went cold and Arkansas used a 14-2 run at the end of the first half to take a 26-18 lead into intermission. Little Rock would not recover.

Angelique Francis grabbed a team-leading nine rebounds – including six on the offensive side of the ball – and scored six points.

Even when the Maroon and Silver found a little bit of success, namely the third quarter when the Trojans upped their rate to a 36.4% field goal percentage, Arkansas upped the ante. The Razorbacks were 10 of 13 (76.9%) in that third frame, out-scored Little Rock 28-12 and kept the game out of reach. That was thanks to a handful of 3-pointers with nearly half of their game's 11 treys coming in that third quarter alone.

Overall, the Trojans committed 17 turnovers with only three assists and had four shots blocked.

Arkansas was led by Sasha Goforth and Amber Ramirez, each of whom scored 14 points with the latter of the two hitting 4 of 8 from beyond the arc.

Little Rock will return home to the Jack Stephens Center on Thursday as the Trojans will host Alabama at 6:30 p.m.
