LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock's women's basketball team will have a quick turnaround after a weekend sweep of ULM as the Trojans head to the Lone Star State for a Tuesday showdown at Texas State.
Tip-off in San Marcos is set for 6 p.m. with Brant Freeman (play-by-play) and Suzanne Fox (analyst) calling the action on ESPN+. Fans in Little Rock can listen to Trey Schaap with the call on the Little Rock Trojans Radio Network (920AM The Sports Animal).
Series History
- This will be the 20th meeting between Little Rock and Texas State with the Trojans holding a 12-7 advantage in the all-time series.
- San Marcos has not been a hospitable place for the Trojans as Little Rock has just a 2-6 all-time record there.
- However, a win on Tuesday would mark the first time Little Rock would've won back-to-back contests against Texas State in San Marcos.
- Little Rock has never lost back-to-back games against the Bobcats.
Five Things to Know
- Not Two, Nor Four, But Three
The unique scheduling for this week (and this season) has presented a first for the Trojans as Little Rock will face Texas State in three consecutive games. Having not yet advanced to the WNBA's Best of Five semifinals before, this will be the first time the Trojans will face the same opponent in three consecutive games.
- My-Oh-Mayra
Mayra Caicedo has been etching her name in the Little Rock record book but on Jan. 29, 2021, she wrote her name in the Sun Belt record book as well. With a 17-assist performance in Little Rock's 71-36 win over ULM, Caicedo tied the Sun Belt (overall) record for most assists in a game, matching the 17 assists recorded by UAB's Kitty Price against Alabama-Huntsville on Feb. 6, 1986.It also set a record for the most assists in a Sun Belt Conference game, surpassing the 16 assists by Kortni Jones (Middle Tennessee) against Troy on Jan. 25, 2012.
- It Rained Threes
Little Rock set a new school record by shooting 58.8% from 3-point range in the Trojans' dominating 71-36 win over ULM on Jan. 29, 2021. The 10 of 17 effort from beyond the arc registered a new school record as it bested the 55.6% team effort against Georgia State on March 2, 2019.
- Embracing Her Role
Ky'lie Scott has made the most of her new role in a starter's position. Since entering the starting lineup on Jan. 22 against UT Arlington, the sophomore Scott has averaged 14.8 points per game and reached double figures in four of the five games she has started.
- Double Trouble
Krystan Vornes continues to show an unrelenting work ethic, having registered six double-doubles this season. That number ranks her 34th in the nation and second in the Sun Belt.
