LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Albeit delayed a couple days due to a unique winter storm to hit the South in this unique season, Little Rock will finally tip-off its two-game series at ULM Sunday afternoon.
Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN+ while Trojan fans can also hear the call on 920AM The Sports Animal.
Series History
- This will be the 35th and 36th meetings between Little Rock and ULM.
- Little Rock has a 31-3 all-time lead in the series. The Trojans have won 18 straight over the Warhawks and have eight consecutive wins in Monroe.
- The Trojans have a 14-2 all-time record in Monroe.
- Little Rock has not allowed ULM to score 60 points or more since March 8, 2014.
Five Things to Know
- Road Court Advantage
Little Rock has found success at Fant-Ewing Coliseum and in Monroe over the course of the series with the Warhawks, winning 14 of the 16 contests played in Ouachita Parish.
- Fire is the Color of Teal
Teal Battle was on fire and refused to let A-State ruin her Senior Day on Feb. 13, hitting five 3-pointers over the final 13 minutes of play and leading the Trojans to a 60-56 overtime win over the Red Wolves. Besting her previous career-high of three 3-pointers, Battle helped push the game into OT and prevented A-State from winning their first-ever game at the Jack Stephens Center.
- Death. Taxes. Joe Foley's Defense.
If there's one thing coaches don't want to face, it's Joe Foley's defense. If there's two things they don't want to face, it's Joe Foley's defense twice in the same weekend. That is because Little Rock and Joe Foley have set the standard when it comes to the Trojans defensive efforts, ranking in the top two of the conference in 10 of the past 11 years in scoring defense while ranking in the top 25 nationally in scoring defense in nine of past 11 years.
- Come and Take It
Little Rock's style of play early on this season has been its own anti-theft device. Trojan opponents have recorded just 5.2 steals per game, a low rate that ranks Little Rock seventh nationally. Additionally, Little Rock opponents have just a 6.7% steal rate (percentage of Trojan possessions where the ball was stolen), a mark that ranks 21st in the country.
- Queen-Teal
Teal Battle (whose first name is actually Quinteal) was named the Sun Belt's Player of the Week after she tied a career-high 25 points including a career-best five 3-pointers on Feb. 13, leading Little Rock to a sweep of rival Arkansas State. She averaged 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds over the weekend and her performance Saturday prevented A-State from getting its first-ever win at the Jack Stephens Center. Battle led Little Rock back from an 8-point deficit to force overtime, hitting all five of her 3-pointers in the final 10 minutes of regulation and overtime. She shot 42.3% from the field, 55.6% from beyond the arc and was perfect from the free throw line (8-for-8). Battle tallied 15 rebounds along with four steals and two blocks on the week while helping Little Rock keep their five-game home win streak alive.
