LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock Volleyball Head Coach
Van Compton announced Wednesday that
Jorge Martinez has been named as an assistant coach for the Trojans.

Martinez most recently served as head coach at Mount Saint Mary's Academy in Little Rock and worked with the Little Rock Juniors Volleyball Club.
Â
While as head coach of Mount Saint Mary's Academy in Little Rock, he led the team to a 9-8 record and an appearance in the 6A state tournament in 2020. He has also served as a staff coach for the Gold Medal Squared Volleyball program from May 2019 to 2021.

He also has experience guiding the Little Rock Juniors Volleyball Club as a head coach since 2017 and athletic director since 2018 before joining the Little Rock Trojans program in 2021.

Originally from Puerto Rico, Martinez is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Â
Martinez played collegiately at the University of Puerto Rico from 2008 to 2010 and earned his Bachelor's Degree in vocal performance from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico. He is currently pursuing his Master's Degree in Spanish from the University of Central Arkansas.

He is also an accomplished opera singer (tenor) and has performed across the United States and Canada.
