Trojans Sweep Past LA Tech to Open Season with 3-0 Win

Every offensive player for Little Rock records at least four kills and two blocks

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Little Rock served up six aces and every single offensive player recorded at least four kills and two blocks as the Trojans swept past Louisiana Tech, 3-0, in the season-opening match for both teams at Barnhill Arena in the Arkansas Classic in Fayetteville.
 
Laura Jansen led the way for Little Rock (1-0) with a match-high nine kills while adding eight digs and two blocks to her tally. Leigh Maher led all players with 13 digs and Zanobia Willis was a force at the net with a match-high seven blocks, one shy of matching her career high. She also added four kills.
 
The Little Rock defense thwarted LA Tech (0-1) throughout the match as the Lady Techsters hit just .010, only climbing out of a negative hitting mark in the final five points of the match. The Trojans out-hit Louisiana Tech in every set and had a 6-1 advantage in service aces.
 
Little Rock will now face Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 10 a.m. Saturday (note the new start time) before facing the host Razorbacks at 7 p.m. on SECN+.
 
Behind the Box Score
  • The Trojans held LA Tech to a -.148 hitting percentage in the opening set while Little Rock hit .200.
  • Laura Jansen put down five of her nine kills in the opening set.
  • Ailene Uetz served up two of her three aces in the first set.
  • Three different Trojans – Nedima Kamberovic (.455), Nejra Hanic (.400) and Nicole Medlin (.300) hit over .300 in the match.
