LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock had three players –
Laura Jansen,
Nejra Hanic and
Nedima Kamberovic – named to the LA Tech Invitational All-Tournament Team with Jansen picking up her third MVP honor in four weeks as the Trojans claimed the tournament title.
Janssen averaged 4.20 kills per set – 42 in all – as she hit .264 and led Little Rock (9-3) to its sixth consecutive win. She added 38 digs, recorded two double-doubles, served three aces and was credited with four blocks. She ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference in both kills (173) and kills per set (4.22) this season.
Hanic hit .286 over the weekend but it was her career-high 12 kills against Louisiana Tech that were critical to secure the tournament championship, hitting .333 in that match. Overall on the weekend, Hanic posted 17 kills with only five errors and was credited with a block.
Kamberovic was also critical in extending Little Rock's winning streak as she tied a career-high 16 kills against Louisiana Tech just hours after recording a then-season-high 11 kills against New Orleans. The redshirt senior hit .361 on the weekend as she hit over .400 in two of the three matches while recording three blocks.
Jansen has been named MVP of three tournaments so far this season, claiming the honor from the Arkansas Classic, the Lamar Invitational and the Louisiana Tech Invitational. This marks the second consecutive all-tournament honor for Kamberovic after receiving similar honors at Lamar while Hanic was awarded her first all-tournament honor of her career.
Little Rock (9-3) will take the Sun Belt's longest active winning streak (six matches) into league play as the Trojans hit the road to face Coastal Carolina on Friday, Sept. 24.
