NEW ORLEANS – After guiding Little Rock to its sixth straight win and claiming her second consecutive MVP award,
Laura Jansen has been named the Sun Belt's Offensive Player of the Week the league announced Tuesday.
The Trojans' senior outside hitter was the Most Valuable Player of the LA Tech Invitational this past weekend, averaging 4.20 kills per set and 3.80 digs per set. She recorded two double-doubles in the team's three matches. Jansen also served up three aces and was credited with four blocks. She ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference in both kills and kills per set.
Jansen's award is the first of the season for her and the second of her career. It comes as the state of Arkansas swept the Sun Belt's Player of the Week awards with Arkansas State also receiving recognition. It is the second Sun Belt Player of the Week accolade for Little Rock this year after
Zanobia Willis was named Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 31.
Little Rock will take a league-best six-match winning streak into the start of conference play as the Trojans play at Coastal Carolina on Friday, Sept. 24 then at App State on Sunday, Sept. 26. Both matches will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
