Five Things to Know
- A Streak Ended Last Year
The 2020-21 season marked several firsts due to the unique nature of the season with a pandemic taking place but one notable thing happened – it marked the first time in five years that Little Rock did not eliminate App State from the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The two teams did not meet in postseason play last season, ending a streak of four consecutive years where the Mountaineers faced Little Rock in postseason play.
- Not-so-Welcome to the Jack
Sun Belt schools are probably glad that Little Rock will be moving to the Ohio Valley Conference next year if only not to have to endure the challenge of playing at the Jack Stephens Center. Since the arena opened, Little Rock has compiled a 125-19 record (.868 winning percentage) at the Jack in league play with a 189-50 (.791) mark at the Jack overall. That includes a run from 2013-19 when the Trojans posted a 56-1 mark in Sun Belt play at the Jack. Since the 2013 season, Little Rock has won nearly 90% of its Sun Belt games at home (.893 winning percentage) with a 67-8 mark.
- Keep the Streak Alive
Little Rock enters this week having won five straight home games. The streak isn't entirely surprising considering Little Rock's domination at home.
- Nothing But Net
While we're on the subject of no surprises, Little Rock enters this game with one of the highest NET rankings of any Sun Belt school. The Trojans come in at No. 145 which ranks them third among the 12 Sun Belt schools, behind only Troy (No. 104) and UTA (No. 124). The Sun Belt has six teams ranked in the top 200 of the latest NET ratings.
- Limit the Mistakes
With an average of just 15.4 turnovers per game, Little Rock is in the top tenth in the nation - ranking 110th overall - in the fewest turnovers it is committing per game. That also includes an 19.3% turnover rate, a mark that ranks 155th in the country. The turnover rate is the percentage of plays where a turnover is committed. Both of those statistical numbers dropped AFTER playing at No. 17/15 Texas A&M.
