NASHVILLE – A pair of freshmen –
Ethan Sorrels and
Barry Richards – both posted the second-best marks in school history in their respective events as action wrapped up on the final day of the Vanderbilt Invitational Saturday in Nashville.
Sorrels started the day by scoring 4,949 points in the heptathlon – the second-most in school history – as he finished as the top collegian and second overall.
Later in the day, Richards ran a blazing fast 8.32 in the 60m hurdles to finish ninth overall. That mark ranks No. 2 in school history. The freshman from Texas signed with Little Rock after posting the nation's fastest all-conditions time in the outdoor hurdles last season.
Troy McKnight ran the eighth-fastest 60m dash time in school history in the event's prelims, posting the fastest time in the prelims while
Taveion Neal ran 6.90 to place seventh. Neal finished fifth overall with a finals time of 6.87 while McKnight was charged with a false start.
Spencer Cardinal ran the 10
th-fastest time in school history in the 3,000m with a mark of 8:33.30 as he finished 12
th in the race.
On the women's side,
Ludovica Polini cleared a height of 12-1.5 (3.70m) in the pole vault to finish ninth while
Lauren Hurrell cleared 10-2 (3.10m) to place 18
th.
Zoa Adams also recorded a ninth-place finish, running 58.21 in the 400m while
Shelby Dunlap finished 21
st with a time of 1:02.10.
The women's 4x400m relay team of
Helensia Green,
Alexia Allen,
Zoa Adams and
Maliyah Holland ran 4:01.62 to finish 10
th.
Little Rock returns to action on Jan. 29 when the Trojans compete at the Wendy's Pittsburg State Invitational in Kansas.
