Trojans Come Up Short Sunday at Morehead State

Eagles defeat Little Rock in OVC matchup

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Little Rock faltered against Morehead State as the Eagles were able to sneak two goals past the Trojan defense in a 2-0 loss for the Maroon and Silver at the MSU Soccer Field today.

With the loss Little Rock (5-5-2, OVC 2-2-0) falls back to the .500 mark on the season and in conference play. Morehead State (6-4-2, OVC 3-0-1) remains undefeated in Ohio Valley competition.

Colleen Swift scored both Eagle goals of the match with scores in the seventh and 74th minutes.

The Trojans held the advantage in both shots (14 to 9) and corner kicks (7 to 2) during the game but were unable to capitalize on offensive opportunities. Freshman midfielder Amaya Arias took five shots with three of them being on net. She was one of two Trojans to have multiples shots on goal during the game with the other player being Karina De Paoli (2).

Four Little Rock players played the entirety of the match. Colleen Gilliland, Natalee Geren, Camryn Jacobs and Serenity Thake each remained on the pitch for all 90 minutes. This is the first time in Thake's collegiate career that she did not leave the field of play during a game.

Little Rock will now return to the Capital City for a weekday matchup against the Redhawks of Southeast Missouri. The game will be held at the Coleman Sports Complex on Thursday with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m.
